FarFiles

FarFiles was created as my cute multi platform experiment. It is a free app, written in .NET MAUI, and it runs on Windows (available in MicroSoft Store) and Android (installed from an .apk installation). You can copy files and file trees from one device to the other through the Internet.

What happened with version 1.0.8 ? Please update to 1.0.9

Running FarFiles depends on usage of my server, hired from Hostinger services: www.cadh5.com.

Last months (May 2026), I noticed an increasing rate of failings when I tried to just open my own website, and finally I just couldn´t open it any more, except if I used a VPN.

Turns out that FarFiles app's behaviour (polling) was marked as being suspicious by Hostinger algorithm and my IP had entered some Hostinger blacklist!

In 1.0.9, I have replaced "polling" by "long polling". Hopefully that convinces the AI that FarFiles is a peaceful app.

Hint: you can alternatively use FileZilla server

I created FarFiles in order to learn, but also I saw usage for myself, anyway within my place that deals with several computers and Android phones. I prefer FarFiles above using a USB stick.

As for Windows, I recently found that I can alternatively use the free FileZilla Server (in combination with a FileZilla Client). It is more user friendly than FarFiles, because in FileZilla you see the source file tree next to the destination file tree, and FileZilla has more features such as 'create folder', 'delete' etc. (And there is a version for Linux desktop).
It only may be somewhat more of a hassle to set it up, fight firewalls etc., compared to FarFiles using communicationmode 'Central Server', where you only need to specify a root folder and a key (a string) that is equal to the key specified at the other side.
